Summary: Proceedings and resolutions of the Union-supporters' district meetings in Frederick County. Frederick, Jackson, Urbana, Creagerstown, Jefferson, Woodsboro, Johnsville, Buckeystown, Petersville, Mechanicstown, Liberty, and Mt. Pleasant districts. Some only voted for delegates to County Convention, others said emphatically they were to vote to support Union, some said they were to nominate for local offices. These were all Union voters, so newspaper articles did not include all resolutions texts, "for want of space", but it may be that all were of the same tone.

Summary: In the recent District No. 5 Friends of the Union meeting, held at the home of Silas Graves in Hancock, Devalt Stottlemyer was made chairman and R.E. Taney secretary. Ten delegates were appointed to meet in Hagerstown on Sept. 21 (1861). The nomination of District officers will be made on Oct. 5.

Summary: At the Sept. 14 (1861) District No. 8 “Friends of the Union, the Constitution, and the Enforcement of the Laws” meeting held in Rohrersville, ten delegates were selected to represent the district in the Sept. 21 County Convention to be held in Hagerstown. Chairman of the meeting was Jonathan Tobey, the secretary was Samuel Rourer and an address was given by Nathan D. Tobey. On Oct. 5 a meeting will be held to nominate candidates for district offices.

Officers of the meeting were Michael Newcomer, Chairman, Henry S. Eavey, V.P., and Frisby J. Davis, Secretary. Names of 20 delegates elected included in article.

Durborow appointed President, Isaac Garver, VP, and George K. Boyer, Secretary. Committee including John Stone, Jr., Christian Mentzer and John N. Newcomer "appointed to name ten Delegates to the County Convention to be held in Hagerstown on Saturday the 21st..." List of ten delegates included in article. Also Stephen G. Martin elected candidate for District Magistrate and Nimrod Ashbaugh candidate for District [14] Supervisor.

Maffit, Esqs…Union candidates for Governor and Comptroller, and other distinguished gentlemen..." Hope that friends of the "Union, the Constitution, and the Enforcement of the Laws" will attend "in large numbers...in defense of our Glorious Union..."
