Called "by the Central Committee of Washington County, a large meeting of the Union men was held at the house of H. Garlinger in Leitersburg, on Saturday 14th inst." Daniel Mentzer, Chair; George W. Pole, Secretary. "a committee was appointed to report delegates to the County Convention on the 21st inst..." 10 men named. George Bowers nominated candidate for Supervisor. Address by Judge Armour. Resolved to hold election for District Officers at "the Academy" on September 28, 1861.
