Summary: The Valley Register rejoices at the results of Maryland's Congressional election where 5 of 6 Congressmen were elected by "triumphant majorities." They are Unconditional Union supporters. The sixth Congressman is a Conditional Supporter and won only because his opponent was unpopular. Hon. Francis Thomas received at least two-thirds of the popular vote. "The present secession Legislature which a short time since undertook to instruct the members of Congress, not then elected, to vote for a recognition of the Southern Confederacy" should heed the way the people of Maryland have voted.

Hagan then accused the captain of one of the RI companies of theft. The paper reports a series of incidents in Frederick involving insults to the federal troops, discovery of a Secession flag in the office of the Herald and the seizing of Secession flags from some Frederick homes.
