Summary

Transcript

THAT “JOHNSON” MEETING. – Pursuant to a ten days previous notice through handbills, &c., in which it was stated that “eminent” speakers would be present, a meeting of the reconstructed was held here on Saturday last. After waiting an hour or two after the time appointed for the meeting, the “eminent” orators being on hand, the meeting, which was composed of just thirty-five persons, was organized and arranged for a short time by young Brengle, McSherry and Nelson, of Frederick, and a man calling himself MAJOR GENERAL Kimmel, alias the “Linganore Farmer.” These “eminent” speakers devoted much of their time to the abuse of Dr. Sim, Captain Baker, and a few others, all of whom are too far above them in respectability to be reached by their blackguardism. Our people will please remember that there are at least four “eminent” speakers for the Johnson party in this county. Banner of Liberty.
