Another Rebel Raid
Summary
A Rebel "raid" (commemorating the occupation of Frederick by Lee in 1862) is scheduled; Charles F. Train and Rev. John Hogan of Missouri will be among the speakers.
Transcript
We see by an advertisement in the Citizen that another rebel raid is anticipated here on Saturday, 8th of September next. We understand that it is intended as the anniversary of Gen. Lee’s formal occupation of this city, which took place on the 8th of September 862. A gay time may be expected as such gatherings never fail to produce something rich and interesting. A man ___ ___ F. Tram is announced as one of the haranguers, but as there is no person in existence who is known by that name that we are aware of, we suppose Gov. Swann will be called upon to fill the vacancy, inasmuch as he is opposed to “foreign hordes” coming to Maryland to tell the people how to vote. The Rev. John Hogan, of Missouri, it is said, will be present. Those who have no relish for the scenes that will inevitably follow the occupation of this city on the 8th prox., will find a happy relief by attending the Union meeting at Middletown on the same day. Hurrah for the old “War Horse.”
