A very huge and enthusiastic meeting of Grant and Colfax men was held in Clearspring on Saturday evening. On motion, Dan’l Plory was called to the Chair, and John Stenmetz made Secretary of the meeting. The object of the meeting being stated by Dr. H. Plory – The Chair was duly authorized to appoint a Committee of three (consisting of Col. H. W. Dollinger, Henry Troup, and Rudolph R___) to select ten Delegates to represent District No. 4 in the County Convention to assemble in Hagerstown, on Tuesday, September 22d. The following gentlemen were chosen as Delegates. John Cowton, Sen.; Dr. H. Flory; Rudolph Herr; Henry Rowland; John W. Miller; David Lesher; Joel Charles; Henry Troup; Melchor Ditto; Lewis Spicklor. Resolved, That these proceedings be published in the “Herald and Torch.” DANIEL PLORY, President; JOHN STENMETZ, Secretary.
