DISTRICT NO. 8 – The Republican voters of District No. 8, met in primary meeting, in Rohrersville, on Saturday evening, the 12th of September, and organized by calling D. G. POITER to the chair and appointing Jos. E. MULLINDORF, Secretary. The presiding officer stated the object of the meeting, when on motion the President appointed J. J. Hines, David D. Keedy, and J. C. Ward a committee to select ten delegates to represent District No. 8 in County Convention to be held in Hagerstown September 22d. The Committee reported the following as Delegates – David G. Potter, Jos. L. Mullendorf, Joseph J. Hine, G. W. McCoy, Dr. J. E. Holmes, J. Emory Ward, John N. Stine, Joseph S. Grimm, Andrew K. Smith, and Cyrus Young. After pledging the hearty support of the nominee of the Convention, and the earnest cooperation with each other in mustering out the forces for Grant and Colfax in November and to strike terror in the ranks of Democracy and Copperheadism wherever found, the meeting adjourned.
