For the Examiner
Summary
John W. Baughman was to speak at the Breckenridge meeting, but was "boisterously requested to step down," to cheers for Bell and Everett and Douglas.
Transcript
Messrs. Editors: - The Citizen states that at the meeting held by the Breckinridge faction on Saturday night, the 29th of September, John W. Baughman, Esq., addressed the people. This is a mistake; Mr. Baughman arose for that purpose, but inasmuch as he refused to discuss the only subject which the people wished to hear from him, to wit: the price of eggs in Cumberland, he was rather boisterously requested to step down: which he did amid loud and long continued huzzas for Bell and Everett and Douglas.
