A number of Virginia companies stationed at Harper's Ferry have disbanded due to the large number of desertions. A majority of the soldiers from Berkeley Co. have returned to their homes or fled across the Potomac. Out of the 700 soldiers stationed across from Williamsport, over 300 have deserted
