Maulsby vs. Thomas
Summary
Col. Maulsby, Copperhead candidate for Congress, has been touted by the Citizen and Union newspapers for his brilliant military record. Examiner says it will not deny that record, but says there are many other soldiers with equal records. It says former Gov. Thomas, Union candidate for Congress, was too old for military service but was responsible for establishing the Potomac Home Brigade and appointing Maulsby to head it. The Examiner backs Thomas and says the members of Maulsby's unit, the Potomac Home Brigade, hold Thomas in more esteem than Maulsby and will give more of their votes to him.
