No Encampment

Summary

A final meeting was held to discuss having a Grand Military Encampment near Frederick City; however, the result, in the end, was that they were unable to obtain tents from MD, VA or PA, so the plan was cancelled.

Transcript

NO ENCAMPMENT. – At the military Convention held in this city on Saturday last to conclude arrangements for a Grand Military Encampment here on the 10th of November. Major General Anthony Kimmel was called in the chair. The various committees supported; the exhibit of the ______ committees was satisfactory; but the Committee of Arrangements reported, that of our diligent exertion, they were unable to procure tents either in Maryland, Pennsylvania or Virginia. Here was an insupportable obstacle to the project; and after a short conference, the Convention adjourned ______, which, we take it, is conclusive to the _____, being nothing more or less, than an abandonment of the proposed encampment. We are sorry for it.
