Messrs. Editors – The recruiting Sergeants of the Southern Army, now organizing to dissolve the union of the States, were here of Thursday last. Their abuse of Douglas and Bell was outrageous and distasteful. Upon Judge Douglas and his friend they heaped full their vials of duty – vulgarity, and to insult them hung out a flag requesting them to behave. Will the citizens of Frederick county enlist in the Army to dissolve the Union and plunge our country in Civil War? Answer Sons of the Old Maryland Line. Q.
