Major Ulysses Hobbs, former captain of the Independent Riflemen, has resigned and will be replaced by Capt. Walter Saunders, formerly 1st Lieut.; Spencer C. Jones, Esq. becomes 1st Lieut.

INDEPENDENT RIFLEMEN. – Major Ulysses Hobbs, having resigned the command of this fine company, Capt. Walter Saunders, recently First Lieutenant of the Corps. was promoted by election to the Captaincy; and Spencer C. Jones, Esq., elected First Lieutenant. In covering his agreeable connection with the Riflemen as their efficient commanding officer, Major Hobbs leaves the company well disciplined and flourishing; and there is no doubt its high reputation will by fully maintained by his very competent successor.
