Easter Monday

Summary

This popular "holyday" was celebrated by military parades in the morning and afternoon. Large crowds in Frederick. The holiday is "held in especial esteem by the colored population..." A Grand Military and Civic Ball hosted by the United Guard and Junior Defenders of Frederick County was held at night; also in attendance at the ball were the Floyd Guard and the Armory Guard from Harpers Ferry. Capt. Richie, Lt. Beckley and Lt. Walter Saunders are leaders of various local military groups.
