District No. 4

Summary

Republican voters of the fourth district met to select ten representatives to the County Convention to be held in Hagerstown. N. J. Ditto was appointed president. The 10 delegates are named. It was learned that Wm. T. Hamilton favored secession and would vote in convention for Breckenridge. District 4 hopes that the U. S. Senate will refuse to admit Hamilton because of his stance. The Republicans of District 4 also expressed their support of Gen. Grant for president and said he was their first choice. The proceedings of the meeting should be sent to the Herald and Torch Light.
