On the site selected for the Antietam National Cemetery is a spot called Lee's Rock where General Lee supposedly stood and directed the Battle of Antietam. The Hagerstown Mail Company embraces 10 acres formerly belonging to Dr. Kennedy which was purchased for $1,000.
