C&O. Canal
Summary
The C&O Canal, under orders from Gen. McClellan, is to be kept open and repaired at least as far as Harper's Ferry this winter. Alfred Spates, Esq., president of the C&O, has made every effort to keep it in operation. The paper reprints a general order from McClellan outlining the arrangements for the canal's operation. It will be under the military supervision of Brig. Gen. C. P. Stone and the financial accounting of the canal must be reported to Stone on a monthly basis.
