Mr. Fiery's Propositions
Summary
Mr. Fiery introduced in MD Senate a resolution asking the President to propose to the Confederate President an armistice and negotiations to restore the Union. He withdrew this and offered a substitute calling on Congress to adopt the Crittenden Compromise and then have the President propose the armistice to the Confederate Congress. The editor strongly opposes anything short of military defeat of the rebellion.
