Summary
2 companies of the 12th IN Regt., stationed near Sharpsburg, crossed the Potomac River "one night last week", captured "R. Davis Shepherd, son-in-law of Hon. Alexander R. Boteler, Abraham Shepherd, George D. McGlincey, Conrad Crowl and George W. Johnson," citizens of Jefferson County VA. Being held at headquarters at Williamsport; charge "with having taken up arms against the government." Reported by the Boonsboro Odd Fellow.
