12th Indiana Regiment
Summary
Report by A. T. Reiley, a member of the 12th IN Regt.: "Our regiment is now divided, four companies up and three down the river as guards, the other three are quartered a half mile west of the pleasant village of Sharpsburg, and forms a kind of headquarters for the regiment." Citizens sell bread, pies, cakes and vegetables to the soldiers. Regt. hospital in Sharpsburg with 20 sick there. Local ladies aid society feeds the sick at the hospital. "We all feel at home here, cannot tell how long we will remain, yet when we leave we will leave our best wishes with the people of Sharpsburg."
