The Home Brigade
Summary
The (Potomac) Home Brigade Regiments are rapidly filling up with citizens from Allegany, Frederick and Washington counties. The Home Brigade was created to protect the canal and loyal citizens from the Monocacy River to the western boundary of the state. In the 1st Rgt., the officers appointed by the President are Col. William P. Maulsby, Lt. Col. Charles G. Trail and Maj. Lewis P. Firey [sic; Fiery].
