Virginia Troops
Summary
About 800 Virginia troops are stationed on Maryland soil near the location of “John Brown’s late abode” in Washington County. They have fortified the heights opposite Harpers Ferry and burned the undergrowth. About 7,000 troops occupy Harpers Ferry, with about 150 opposite Williamsport.
