Summary

The (Hagerstown) Mail writes that Lewis P. Firey [sic; Fiery] has “Black Republican proclivities,” yet Firey [sic; Fiery] and his father have lost several thousand dollars worth of slave property in recent years. Firey [sic; Fiery] supports the Union because he realizes that slavery will be destroyed in Maryland if the Union is dissolved.
