Summary

Discusses the formation of a new political party, called the “Union Party,” composed of those from the American Party, Old Line Whigs and National Democrats. It is opposed to further agitation of the slavery question by discarding the prominent issues and actors from the established parties, by which it hopes to establish national harmony and peace.
