Soldier's Convention

Summary

A convention of former Union soldiers, numbering over one thousand, was held at the Frederick Court House. It agreed to form a Soldiers’ Legion in the Frederick District and to encourage the formation of Legions in the other districts of the county, as well as a state-wide organization. Among its resolutions, it agreed to provide mutual assistance to its membership and to promote measures that benefit former Union soldiers.
