The Campaign

Summary

Tory members of the legislature have been dispersed, leaving the likelihood that the Tories will contest the upcoming election in doubt. Mr. Howard, reputed Tory candidate for governor, has not revealed if he would accept nomination, and the Howard County Tory slate, the only one so far in the state, is likely to be withdrawn. All this leaves the door open to Union party candidates, if properly vetted, to rise above the confusion.
