“Fred and Mr. Heard left for Leesburg at 5 A.M., took a change of clothes and a business letter for Aunt Charlotte’s lawyer...via Noland’s Ferry. Mr. Pagett brought troops from Point of Rocks who fired at them just as they rounded the island. The island was full of rebel soldiers.”
